FAQ

Everything You Need to Know About SkyGloss

Clearcoat is the essence of your paint finish and is the top outer layer that completes the vehicles exterior finish. It is the most important layer of your paint finish. It is what gives it its beauty, luster and shine along with all the protective chemical and UV resistance it needs to protect against the elements. It is in the constant state of wearing down the day it drives off the dealership lot, just like tires or brake pads. Without a healthy thick clearcoat, your paint finish is completely compromised and will disintegrate the layers underneath all the way down to metal. Keeping it healthy and thick is the answer to a paint finish that will last forever.

Clearcoat is only so thick. It only has so much build to it. It is taking damage every single day. We replace our motor oil, build our tire tread back up, make sure our brake pads are thick all while our clearcoat is thinning and deteriorating every single day. And we try to repair and beautify our paint finish by making things worse by cutting it down through traditional polishing and detailing methods. Although temporarily getting a fresh clean surface, it was at the expense of thinning the clearcoat. Clearcoat is the most important layer of your paint finish. It is what gives it the protection, the luster, the shine, the depth, the beauty and all of its resistance. It is critical that clearcoat stays thick and healthy and if you can keep it thick and healthy you will never have paint and integrity issues that deteriorate your paint, therefore you will always be able to keep your paint factory. Building clearcoat versus cutting it down is a much better way to maintain a vehicle’s paint finish and keep it Factory Forever.

Paint correction is the art of freshening up the paints clearcoat layer. So technically, yes, but we use more advanced, innovative techniques than traditional paint correction methods. The problem with traditional methods is that they can make your surface look fresh and new, but at the expense of cutting down an already thinning paint finish. Having a thick clearcoat is not a want it is a must. Our advanced Clearcoat Fusion Technology doesn't cut away your original clearcoat, but fuses more clearcoat into your paint finish, not only fixing and repairing damage, but giving the vehicle a more brilliant, lustrous, and permanent fix than traditional methods. The result is a faster turnaround time and increased clearcoat longevity keeping your paint finish Factory Forever.

SkyGloss’ Clearcoat Fusion Technology is an actual fusion of more high-grade OEM clearcoat into a vehicle's paint finish, building it back up. Not only does this build integrity into your vehicle's paint, but also fixes all kinds of clearcoat damage. The finish result is a factory fresh paint finish building integrity versus cutting it down through traditional polishing methods. Clearcoat is the protection mechanism that manufactures use to protect a vehicle's paint. It is the most reliable UV and damage resistant protection you can have. It’s better to think of ceramics or any type of coating not as protection, but a performance enhancement to the surface. Creating a chemical resistance and high surface tension beyond typical automotive paint finish. So SkyGloss Clearcoat Fusion Technology is not a replacement to coatings, but is the first step you would do before any coating gets applied. It is a way to build the foundation back to a factory fresh feel. To give you a comparison of protection thickness, a typical vehicle will take about 25 mL of a ceramic coating, SkyGloss FUSION is 250 mL of material. Literally 10 times the thickness and that's what matters when it comes to actual protection. Ceramic coatings, and all types of coatings are a very effective way to get beautiful performance out of your paint like a turbo wood for an engine.
